A 32-year-old man has been charged with the murder of a father who was found dead in the basement of a West Midlands house.
Baljit Singh’s body was discovered at an address in Beeches Road, Rowley Regis on New Year’s Day after he went missing in the runup to Christmas.
The 50-year-old, from Harborne, Birmingham, was reported missing after leaving his home on 23 December to collect a birthday cake for his son.
A postmortem examination revealed he died as a result of head injuries and a knife wound to the neck.
West Midlands police said Stuart Millership has been charged with the murder and will appear before Wolverhampton magistrates on Monday.
Millership, of no fixed abode, was arrested on New Year’s Eve in Kingswinford, West Midlands.
A 27-year-old woman arrested on suspicion of murder has been released on police bail pending further inquiries.
Two other people arrested on suspicion of car theft – a 28-year-old man and 23-year-old woman from Kingswinford – have both been released on police bail pending further inquiries.
The victim’s family have been told of the latest developments, police said.
